- Was simply not prepared and did not think ahead.
- Had poor body language and tone of voice. Rule #1, don't squirm
- Didn't Listen to the question
- Was downright evasive and did not even try to answer the questions or try to deliver a message. (And if you can't answer, tell the reporter why, but be enthusiastic, composed and confident about it.)
- Was not eager to tell his story and it showed. (Willing to be interviews vs. eager to tell you story)
- Did not have an agenda or message. Without an agenda or message you will quickly lose control of the interview.
- Lost opportunity to bridge to health care issues overall
- Did not show empathy and was not engaging

McCain's Media Flub -- "Deer in the Headlights"
I agree with the TV pundits (both Republican and Democratic), McCain breaks all the rules in this video. Here are just a few of his mistakes:
